Sparrows Sketches 2/21/10

Left: Cool rocker chick. Her hair and coat caught
my eye. She wasn't actually holding a fish. It
just seemed to fit.
Middle: Super cute Barista. She has an adorable voice and a
great hairstyle.
Right: Random bundled-up cutie. Love the hat and scarf.

The New Guinea Contract

This piece was created last year for a Tiki swap
over at Tiki Central. The above image is the
burnt umber underpainting.
Below is the finished art. This piece is 8"x10"
and is painted on a mounted panel.

I designed the sides of the panel to imitate
the look of an actual book. The illusion
worked pretty well. The lettering could
be a lot tighter but, overall, it got the
job done.

This piece is available as a print from ILLUSTRATIONVILLE!
Feel free to order as many as humanly possible. :)
Remember, every time you purchase one of my prints, an
angel wonders what it has to do with him.

Brass Women

The films of Italian director, Tinto Brass, are some of
the sexiest movies ever made. His storytelling skills
are top notch and his eye for detail, composition,
costuming, set design and, of course, beautiful
women is sublime. He excels in presenting
sexually daring and playful women who know
full well the power they possess. He also realizes
that seeing a little something is just as alluring as
seeing everything. The above sketches were done
after watching a couple of Brassworks. His films
abound with curvaceous beauties such as these.

Coffee House Creeps vol.1

Coffee house creeps vol 1:
THE SELF TOPPER TALKER

I encountered this particular brand of creep last
Sunday at Sparrows. This annoying fellow is usually
seated at a full table of friends. He begins to tell a
story of something his "crazy friend" did. This story
is usually outrageous and involves someone innocent
getting angry or property getting destroyed. When the
table of friends laughs at this story it triggers the
Self Topper Talker switch. Now this attention junky will
hold sway over the table by topping each story he tells
with one that is more outrageous than the last. None of
these stories will sound remotely plausible, but the
equally dopey audience will eat them up. By now, he has
insinuated himself into every tale so that each goes
from "My friend" to "Me and my friend". He will
also follow every story with the phrase, "It was so funny".
He thinks this lessens the grimness of what he has said.
Ex: "And then he fell and broke his neck. It
was so funny!". If you encounter this goomer at your
local watering hole, you should attempt to move as
far away from him as possible. If you are him, shame on you!

Coffee House Sketches Feb. 6/7

The sketch on the upper left was drawn at Kava House
on the 6th. It was based loosely on one of the (many) lovely
ladies who work there. I liked the combination of her glasses,
hairstyle and hairband. She's much cuter in person. :)

The sketch on the lower left was based on a patron
of Sparrows. She was doing homework with an equally lovely
companion. Her dark hair and eyes caught my attention
immediately and I had no choice but to sketch her.

The rest were products of my imagination and were
drawn at Sparrows on the 7th.

Kava House Sketches 1/30/10

A very silly looking Moai.

A couple of modern fish

This girl had a very interesting face. Great shapes.
She also had a cool two-toned hairstyle. Auburn in
color with a white streak up front.

This girl was a real Chatty Kathy. Man, she talked a
blue streak with about a thousand "likes" tossed in
for good measure. She and her friend were really cute
but, criminy, who could take that mile-a-minute yammering? :)
